I purchased this item for bowhunting in Oregon. Where I bowhunt you would be hard pressed to find a spot where the ground is level, and that was the biggest reason I chose the Rifle Hunter over the Prostaff models as it has Nikon's ID (incline/decline) technology. This range finder does EXACTLY what it claims. I have found it to be very accurate. Also, I am amazed at how quickly it gives readings. I was up in the air between this rangefinder and one owned by a friend of mine, the Bushnell Scout 1000 with arc, and I am glad I went with the Nikon. The Nikon gives more consistent and accurate readings, and it gives them quicker. BTW, I know this range finder is only rated to 550 yards, but today I ranged an elk sized target at 674 yards. Perfect range finder for the type of hunting I do.

My first impression is that this is a very good rangefinder for the money. Without using the owner's manual, I was quickly able to check ranges of several objects at our ranch - trees, metal surfaces and animals were ranged for variety - and all of them appeared to be quite accurate. Conditions were windy and mostly sunny and my time was limited, but so far I'm impressed. I look forward to using it under other conditions, such as lower light/overcast/etc. While hog hunting with a friend recently, he was using his Leupold rangefinder and was unable to get it to change to the proper mode through repeated attempts without his manual. From what I have read and from my limited experience to this point, the Nikon is a simpler device. I found it to be user-friendly and intuitive. I also own a Nikon Monarch UCC scope which has been quite impressive, with great low-light performance. I hope the quality level of this rangefinder continues to be on par with what I have come to expect from my scope. Initial results are very good!

i really like this product, has worked in all kinds of weather for me, i have even "shot" it through a double pane glass window and it was accurate. it does have the ability to give you both line of sight distance and horizontal distance which is good for making a shot up or down a steep incline. i only wish it would tell you the exact angle of the slope as well, probably not a big deal for most folks but i just like to know that kind of thing. all in all i really do like it, passes time while your sitting in the treestand
