1What a disappointment!
By DS Dad
Ok folks, this is the 2nd Bushnell camera I've purchased. I purchased the 1080p version (last year's model) and the quality was incredible. I was a little disappointed by the slowness of the trigger. (2s) So in looking at getting a 2nd camera I was hesitant to get their new 720p camera but read a review that said it was great. (contrast better, and trigger speed of 0.6seconds much better) So I just retrieved my first video from my fancy camera tonight and ... grainy city as viewed from my 1080p viewsonic monitor. I double checked all of the settings and had it set up correctly. Also tried a second computer with a very fast Samsung monitor but also poor quality. I then compared the output of the two cameras and saw that on the 8MP setting the new camera actually only had a 6MP image. I then compared the video and noticed the old camera recorded video in a MOV file format, while the new camera recorded it as an AVI. Not sure of the difference but the quality was strikingly worse with the new camera. If you are looking for a nice trail cam, go with the 1080p 2second trigger camera from last year, not their new model.

So....what where they thinking? I can only believe this was a cost reduction play by Bushnell to increase profit at the expense of quality. Too bad, I would have expected more from them.

4Requires SanDisk memory card. AVI files editable by Windows Live Movie Maker.
By sSlocum
I've recorded a batch of 550 photos and another batch of 65 videos of the creatures who came through my back yard. Almost everything is working as it should.

This camera didn't work with the memory card I had (of another brand), but it works well with the new SanDisk Extreme - Flash memory card - 32 GB - Class 10 -SDHC.

The lower-end model Bushnell 8MP Trophy Cam Black Led Trail Camera with Night Vision I originally bought and returned was a disappointment, and wasn't working correctly. This higher-end model is worth the extra cost for me, because it's working correctly (with the SanDisk card) and because it displays the images it's captured on its own screen.

Not every application can work with the AVI video files it captures. Windows 7 Media Player and Windows 7 Live Movie Maker work fine, but I can't open them in Adobe Premiere Elements, Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum, Adobe Premiere CS6, or QuickTime Pro. Maybe that's all you need to know, but here's more: QuickTime Pro asked me to install an unnamed plugin, so I installed the 15-day DivX trial software but that didn't help (in fact, I had to uninstall the DivX software to get Windows 7 Media Player working again). Bushnell support recommended MPEG Streamclip, so I installed it, but it didn't convert the AVI file into anything that even Windows 7 Media Player could view. There's no help on the topic from the Bushnell FAQ, nor from Bushnell support. Maybe there's a solution somewhere, but I haven't found it yet, and Bushnell support hasn't referred me to it (and since they didn't take my contact info, I don't suppose they intend to).

So if you're buying this TrophyCam and you want to work with the videos it captures, don't expect help from anybody but Microsoft.

5Great Product
By Evsdog
Did the research and went for the one with the view screen, best purchase I've made in a long time. Camera and Video work great! Battery life is amazing! Great to see your images and videos on the little screen w/o having to bring home memory card to download. Worth the $$$. We captured deer, fox, raccoon all in the 1st week 200 ft. from our home. My 5 year old loves to go check the trail camera!!
